America's National Society of Film Critics have named Iraq drama 'The Hurt Locker' the Best Picture of 2009. The film, which focuses on a bomb disposal squad stationed in Baghdad, also took an award for director Kathryn Bigelow and one for lead actor Jeremy Renner.
Elsewhere, Joel and Ethan Coen were awarded the Best Screenplay gong for 'A Serious Man', Austrian actor Christoph Waltz got Best Supporting Actor for his role as a Gestapo officer in Quentin Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds', and US comedy star Mo'Nique got Best Supporting Actress for a serious turn as an abusive mother in 'Precious'.
