Experimental theatre collective Shunt, who have been housed in the vaults of London Bridge station for the last three years, are to stay in their venue for another year.
The group, as previously reported, thought it would have to leave the space because of the planned redevelopment of the station, but it is reopening today, apparently thanks to the efforts of a number of organisations, including Network Rail. Shunt co-founder David Rosenberg said: "It’s definitely one of the most fantastic spaces in London and to be able to programme such an incredible space, which has become very popular, is fantastic".
Rosenberg says that Shunt are still looking for a new permanent venue near London Bridge. The company are currently using a second space in the area, in a former cigar warehouse, which they have access to until January 2011.
