Roman Polanski has been denied his previously reported request that he be sentenced in a US court in his absence.
As you just may be aware, the veteran director is currently under house arrest in Switzerland, as he waits for the authorities there to decide whether or not he should be extradited to the US to face sentencing over his 32 year old child sex conviction.
Polanski entered into a plea deal with the judge in the case, back in 1978, and that judge subsequently reneged on the plea deal. As a result, Polanksi went on the run, and has spent the last three decades living in Europe.
His lawyers had requested that the sentencing take place in Polanski's absence to bring an end to the case, but the new judge has said that the director must take his place in court to get the situation resolved.
