Peter Brook to give Directors Guild of Great Britain's first annual lecture

by thisweeknews 14. January 2010 11:30

Peter Brook is to give the inaugural annual lecture, named in his honour, for the Directors Guild of Great Britain. The director, well known for his past work with the RSC, and for his book on directing, 'The Empty Space', will deliver the first lecture on 6 February at the Barbican Pit, and it will thereafter become an annual thing.

Directors Guild chairman Ivor Benjamin explained the body's reasons for establishing the event: "Our brief is now to train, promote and celebrate. So, giving a prominent British director a platform once a year to talk about their craft, talk about the business and the way directing impacts on society seemed to us to be exactly the right direction for the guild.

The post-lecture discussion will be hosted by director Richard Eyre.

You know, I think 'Directors Guild' should have an apostrophe. But they don't have one when they spell it on their website, so I am not going to add one.
