London's Roundhouse has announced the launch of a new international contemporary circus festival. CircusFest 2010 will run at the Camden venue for five weeks, from 7 April to 16 May, and feature a range of events which will include a number of UK premieres.
Trash City's new show will open the festival, which will also feature productions by Australian company Acrobat, and Compagnie XY of France. Some circus-themed films will also be screened as part of the festival, plus, there will be debates and talks, including an evening with circus veteran Gerry Cottle.
All sounds fun. Here's what Marcus Davey, Roundhouse artistic director, has to say about it all: "some of the greatest circus talent from Britain and around the world will converge on the Roundhouse for a sublime, raucous, daring and wondrous festival of circus...What is not to love about that?"
