Law, Weisz, Stewart take Whatsonstage theatre awards

Winners of the whatsonstage.com theatre awards – which are voted for the public – have been announced at a ceremony at London's Prince of Wales theatre. Rachel Weisz was recognised for her performance in 'A Streetcar Named Desire', Jude Law for his portrayal of Hamlet, and Patrick Stewart for his supporting role alongside Law.  

Other high profile winners included Miriam Morgolyes, who also got a nod for a supporting performance in 'Endgame' and Rowan Atkinson, who took the musical actor gong for his role in 'Oliver!' 'Waiting For Godot', starring Ian McKellen and the aforementioned Patrick Stewart was judged to the theatre event of the year, whilst Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem, which premiered at the Royal Court, was named best new play.
