Empire magazine have revealed their award nominations for this year, and James Cameron's 'Avatar' and Quentin Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds' lead the field with five nominations each. Both movies are nominated in the Best Film category, alongside 'Star Trek', 'The Hurt Locker' and 'District 9'.
Cameron and Tarantino are, not surprisingly, both nominated in the Best Director category, as is Bafta winner Kathryn Bigelow, for 'The Hurt Locker'. Other nominees include Anne-Marie Duff and Carey Mulligan, both of whom feature in the Best Actress category, as well as Christoph Waltz, Robert Downey Jr, Robert Pattinson and Michael Caine, all nominated for Best Actor.
The nominees are selected via a public vote and will be judged by Empire editor Mark Dinning, actor Jason Isaacs, and writer/director Edgar Wright. The ceremony, hosted by Dara O'Briain, will take place on 28 March at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
