Danny Boyle is to direct a production of 'Frankenstein' at the National Theatre next winter.
It will be the 'Slumdog Millionaire' man's debut at the venue, though not his first theatre gig altogether; he has directed plays at the RSC and the Royal Court Theatre during the course of his career.
NT artistic director Nicholas Hytner says: "What will be exciting will be to see how a theatre director with a really recognisable personal style has been altered by what he’s discovered about himself over 15 years making movies".
Other plans for the next year at the National include a 2011 production of Twelfth Knight, to be directed by Peter Hall in celebration of his eightieth birthday, and starring his daughter Rebecca. A new play by Moira Buffini, 'Welcome To Thebes', will also be staged, and directed by Richard Eyre, plus, there'll be a new version of 'Danton's Death', starring Toby Stephens and directed by Donmar man Michael Grandage.
