Camden's Lion and Unicorn theatre may close

by thisweeknews 20. January 2010 16:06

The Lion and Unicorn pub theatre in Camden may be forced to close because the company that owns the pub, Pubs n Bars plc, has gone into administration. At present, administrators are allowing the bar and theatre to continue trading, but the venue's future is unclear.

George Sallis, founder of Giant Olive, the resident theatre company at the Lion and Unicorn says: "We're going to hang on and wait and see. In the meantime, we've got a programme within the Camden fringe, we’ve got about eight shows in up until about October and we've already started thinking about what we are going to do for our Christmas show".

Sallis adds that the company has received its first donations via their online loyalty scheme since the news was covered in the local press, and that, if the pub is sold on to another company, Giant Olive will campaign to keep their venue.
