The BBC has confirmed plans for a new drama production centre, to be located in Wales. The facility, which will see the filming of such shows as Doctor Who and Casualty, will be built in Cardiff Bay, and work on the site is expected to begin “within Months”. The news follows the beeb's 2009 announcement that the filming of the aforementioned series 'Casualty' would be moved from Bristol to Wales in 2011.
BBC Wales director Menna Richards said: "The BBC has confirmed it is to build a drama centre at Roath Basin in Cardiff Bay and has reached agreement with key partners to complete the site, subject to planning consent. This is a fantastic opportunity to build on the success of BBC Wales drama production and the wider creative industries in Wales"
